Part 4 — Due-diligence checklist

Buyer due-diligence checklist

Never wire funds until every item below is verified in writing. A UAE marine lawyer or the BoatFinder+ concierge team can walk you through each document. This checklist covers the paperwork; TruCheck™ covers the yacht itself.

10-item buyer checklist

  • ✓Mulkiya (UAE ownership certificate) — original, not scanned
  • ✓Current DMCA or SCA registration in the seller's name
  • ✓Trade licence (for dealers) or Emirates ID (for private sellers)
  • ✓Bill of sale from previous owner and full title chain
  • ✓Service records: engine hours, oil changes, generator hours, antifouling dates
  • ✓TruCheck™ or third-party marine survey report (within 30 days)
  • ✓Sea trial log with cruising and WOT engine data
  • ✓Insurance transfer letter and no-claims history
  • ✓Berth reservation confirmation for the new owner
  • ✓5% VAT invoice from a VAT-registered seller (or exemption evidence)

What TruCheck™ covers

TruCheck™ is BoatFinder+'s pre-purchase inspection: hull, engines, electronics, hours, service records, and title. For any yacht above AED 500,000 it is the standard due-diligence step, and it is required for financing and insurance at most UAE marine lenders.

Closing safely through an escrow client account

Every deal should be closed through a UAE-licensed broker or marine lawyer's client account — never wire funds directly against a mulkiya scan. The client account releases funds only on successful registration transfer, protecting both sides. BoatFinder+ does not hold buyer or seller funds; the concierge can introduce a licensed broker or lawyer to handle escrow.

With the paperwork clean, the final piece is the money side — Part 5 covers VAT, financing and ownership structure.
