Run the boat at wide-open throttle with a normal load and compare the RPM to the engine's rated range. Over the range means too little pitch; under it means too much. Roughly, one inch of pitch shifts WOT by about 150–200 RPM.
Aluminium is cheaper and deforms on impact, protecting the gearcase — sensible for shallow, unfamiliar water. Stainless is stiffer, holds pitch under load and delivers better performance, but transmits impact to the drive. Many Dubai owners run stainless and keep an aluminium spare.

A bent or unbalanced blade, a fishing line or rope wrap damaging the seal, a worn cutless bearing, or shaft misalignment. Vibration should be investigated quickly — it destroys seals, bearings and gearbox components.
