Production Facilities & Shipyards
Walk the process, not the showroom. Look at the lamination or fabrication hall and whether it is climate controlled, the lifting equipment and its rated capacity, the length of the covered fit-out bay against your intended hull, the engineering shop where systems are assembled, and the paint or finishing area. Ask what the yard's largest completed hull was and stand next to it if it is still on site.
Dubai yards sit alongside dry docks, ship repair and a deep marine supply chain, which suits vessels that need frequent lifting, class survey or fast parts access. Ajman and Umm Al Quwain facilities are the composite and wooden building base, with lower overheads and long-standing craft skills — a common choice for GRP leisure craft, dhows and hospitality vessels.
A yard that also refits vessels keeps its trades busy between new builds, which usually means better in-house engineering, joinery and paint capability. If you plan to keep the vessel in the UAE, choosing a builder with dry dock and refit capability means warranty work and future upgrades stay with the people who built the hull.

Most yards welcome a facility visit and it is the single most useful due-diligence step you can take. Arrange it before signing, ask to see a hull under construction at a stage similar to your project, and confirm who your build contact will be during construction.
Many do. Refit and dry docking are marked on each profile in this directory. A builder that refits as well as builds usually has stronger in-house engineering, joinery and paint capability, which also helps with warranty work after delivery.
